Gerard Fontanelle

Master Instructor

Gerard Fontenelle is a Fifth Dan in Han Mu Do, and one of the head instructors at Kimm’s Institute.  Gerard began his martial arts journey at a young age, and has primarily practiced Han Mu Do for over twenty years. He has always appreciated Han Mu Do for its traditional elements, eclectic technical sets, and robust intellectual tradition. Gerard’s preferred weapon to train is the sword, and his preferred techniques for self-defense involve throwing.  Training at Kimm’s has exposed him to a variety of other martial arts like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, and Hae Dong Kum Do. Gerard strives to focus his teachings on the core tenants of the Han philosophy, and hopes his students learn both the practical self-defense elements of Han Mu Do and the deeper themes of confidence and self-discipline that martial arts bring to a student’s life both on and off the mat.
